It Get's Better Project

The It Gets Better Project exists to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe. Growing up isn’t easy, especially when you are trying to affirm and assert your sexual orientation and/or gender identity. It can be a challenging and isolating process – but, the good news is, no one has to do it alone. We hope stories from people around the world, including RuPaul, Jane Lynch, and Laverne Cox, help inspire you today!

Local Social Support Groups

	The Alliance for GLBTQ Youth is the only non-profit organization in the Miami-Dade County exclusively committed to providing prevention, early intervention social services, and youth enrichment activities to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (GLBTQ) youth and their families.
	The best way for parents, family members, friends, or gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) people to get support, receive educational materials, and learn about PFLAG's advocacy efforts is to visit a PFLAG local chapter.
	At the Pride Center we provide a welcoming, safe space — an inclusive home that celebrates, nurtures and empowers the LGBTQ communities and our friends and neighbors in South Florida.
	Pridelines Youth Services is dedicated to supporting, educating and empowering South Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth in a safe and diverse environment.
	Safe Schools South Florida is the only organization in South Florida comprised of education professionals committed to training education professionals to recognize and intervene in harassment and bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) students and the children of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) parents.
	South Florida Family Pride (SFFP) is a volunteer based organization providing support, advocacy and fun for LGBT families in South Florida. The organization welcomes LGBT families at all stages of parenting, including soon-to-be, wanna-be, single parents and those identifying as LGBT with children from previous marriages or relationships.
	SunServe is a nonprofit social service agency serving the LGBTQ community in South Florida. They provide care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions.
	The Unity Coalition provides leadership, protection, and promotion of Latino & Hispanic LGBTQ rights in South Florida.
	The mission of the Yes Institute is to prevent suicide and ensure the healthy development of all LGBTQ youth through communication and education on gender and sexual orientation.

State & National Social Support Groups

	ALSO Youth is a Non-Profit Charity that provides peer support services, educational programs, advocacy, and referrals for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and questioning youth ages 13 to 21, their families and friends, and the community, thereby enhancing self-esteem, promoting healthy dialogue, and increasing awareness of sexual minority youth issues.
	All Rainbow and Allied Youth's mission is to create a place of support, and provide information, advocacy, and resources in Charlotte County, Florida, for our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, plus, youth of all races, nationalities, and incomes.
	The Center's mission is to promote and empower the LGBT community and its allies through information, education, advocacy, and support.
	Founded in 2004, CFGALLA is a regional Voluntary Bar Association of The Florida Bar. It is the objective of CFGALLA to establish and maintain an integrated group to support, assist, and encourage gay and lesbian attorneys, legal professionals, and law students, and provide support and resources to the community at large on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered issues.
	JASMYN supports LGBTQ young people 13-29 by creating safe space, providing health and wholeness services, and offering youth development opportunities, while bringing people and resources together to promote equality and human rights.
	Jax Youth Equality is a community providing medical and mental health resources, youth and family information, awareness, advocacy, safe places, community education, school initiatives and more to advance the health and well-being of all children and youth in Jacksonville.
	The Spring’s mission is to prevent domestic violence, protect victims, and promote change in lives, families and communities. Since our founding in 1977, we have provided a safe haven and comprehensive supportive services to more than 70,000 abused adults and their children, and we’ve answered calls all hours of the day and night from well over 150,000 women in crisis.
	True Colors United implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people. In the United States, 4.2 million youth experience homelessness each year, with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGBTQ peers. True Colors United is committed to changing that.
	Zebra Coalition is a network of organizations, which provide services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and all youth (LGBTQ+) ages 13 – 24. The Coalition assists young people facing homelessness, bullying, isolation from their families, and physical, sexual and drug abuse with individualized programs to guide them to recovery and stability.

Young Transgender Adults on a Journey to Become More Visible

Are you Male or Female? For the four fearless young transgender adults featured in the film this is not a simple question. These four defy societal norms to be their true selves and become more visible. No transition is easy, but for some it is easier than for others. BECOMING MORE VISIBLE shines a humanizing light on their different stories, both their struggles and their triumphs, and showcases the importance of having a steady support system. The film also briefly goes over the physical process some of them decide to take in transitioning.

	Guías de Conversación Los latinos e hispanos apoyan firmemente la idea de que personas LGBT deben recibir un trato justo e igualitario. 	Trans Lifeline provides trans peer support for our community that’s been divested from police since day one. We’re run by and for trans people. Trans Lifeline is a grassroots hotline offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis – for the trans community, by the trans community.
	The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
	Gender Spectrum works to create gender sensitive and inclusive environments for all children and teens. If you are a parent looking for support, a young person looking to connect, a professional interested in learning best-practices, a faith leader seeking resources, or anyone who wants the most up-to-date and accurate information about gender and youth, Gender Spectrum can help.
	TransSOCIAL was created to promote unity within the Transgender community, and to increase Trans visibility and understanding in our surrounding communities. We offer LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency and Sensitivity Training to businesses, healthcare providers, schools and universities that want to foster inclusive environments for their employees and clients.
