Locating E-books

 

eBooks are library books you can read on your computer screen.

To Access the eBook Collection:

From the Databases:

  • Go to http://www.mdc.edu/learning-resources/libraries/ (OR: www.mdc.edu - Academics - Libraries)
     
    • Click on "More databases"
       
    • Select your College (Miami Dade College)
       
    • Enter your Borrower ID (Student Number)
       
    • Enter your PIN (Last Four Digits of your Student Number)
       
    • Click on the "Subject" tab
       
    • Open the "Electronic Books" category (click on "+" sign)
       
    •  Click on "eBook Collection (EBSCO)"  or any of the other eBook databases
       
    • OR - - go to "Find e-Books and Magazines" and select one of the database links from the short list and log in

 

From the Catalog:

 

  • Go to http://www.mdc.edu/learning-resources/libraries/ (OR: www.mdc.edu - Academics - Libraries)
     
  • Click on "Advanced Library Search"
     
    • Select "Online Resources" from the drop-down list next to "Search for words"
    • Select "Ebooks" from the "Format" drop-down list
    • Click on "Full Text" to read onscreen. (If you have not already done so, you must log in with your Borrower ID and PIN to open and view)
       
  • The eBooks are available 24/7.

Downloading Ebsco eBooks to Read Offline

Note: In order to read eBooks on your computer or mobile device when you are offline (or to transfer them to your Adobe Digital Editions-compatible eBook Reader device) you must download them.

You will need an Ebsco account, and Adobe ID, and Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher installed on your computer to be able to open and read eBooks or to transfer them.

1. Create an Ebsco account (see the link or handout for instructions)

2. An Adobe ID (see the link or handout for instructions)

3. Install Adobe Digital Editions.

Adobe Digital Editions is a free download available at http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/download.html.


Transfer an eBook to a portable reader

Once you have downloaded an eBook to your computer, follow these instructions to transfer to your eReader device:
