Contemporary Study Space
The Homestead Campus Learning Commons offers quiet seating areas to study independently, meeting spaces with white boards to work in groups, and high or low tables where you can collaborate with tutors. Our versatile furniture can be rearranged to fit your needs.
To borrow items you must present your MDC ID or other photo ID at the service desk. Items may be renewed or returned to any MDC library. The Homestead Learning Commons has laptops for checkout to current MDC students. Laptops are FREE to check out and can be borrowed for 2 hours at a time. Laptops, headphones, and calculators can be used outside the library, but must be returned on time.

Inter-library and Inter-campus Loans
Books that are not available at the Homestead Campus may be obtained from other campuses via inter-campus loan (ICL), or from other institutions via inter-library loan (ILL). Items are usually received within three to seven days.
If you need help with math, science, and writing courses, trained tutors are available to help. Please refer to our Tutor Schedule for availability. There is no appointment necessary to see a math or science tutor. If you would like to meet with a writing tutor, you are encouraged to make an appointment by calling (305) 237-5057 or by visiting the Learning Commons in D101.
Librarians are available to assist you at any point of the research process. They can help you find articles, books, or other materials, select and evaluate resources, and cite using MLA or APA.
Print / Copy / Scan
Students may use our printers for a small fee of $0.08 per page for black and white printing and $0.40 per page for color printing. You can also Print Wirelessly. Copies are also $0.08 per page. If you wish to scan documents, you will need your own storage device.
