How do I access my student email using Apple Mail 3 (Leopard)?
To set up your Mail.app client to work with your student email:
- Create a POP password for your student email account.
- Enable IMAP from within your student email.
- In Apple Mail, click Mail > Preferences....
- On the Accounts tab, click the + button to add a new account.
- Fill in the new window with the following information:
- Full Name: [your name]
- Email Address: your full student email address [username@mymdc.net]
- Password: your POP password
- Important: please deselect the box next to 'Automatically set up account'
- Click Create.
- Fill in the following Incoming Mail Server information:
- Account Type: Select IMAP
- Incoming Mail Server: Change this to imap.gmail.com
- User Name: your full student email address [username@mymdc.net]
- Password: your POP password
- Click Continue.
- Enter the following Outgoing Mail Server information:
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Use Authentication: selected
- User Name: your full student email address [username@mymdc.net]
- Password: your POP password
- Click Continue.
- Review your Account Summary, and click Create.
