July 11th 

Student Success Skills - 10am 

This workshop focuses on essential skills that all students should be aware of and covers topics such as cubicle etiquette, email etiquette, social media etiquette, time management, and behavior in public spaces. Brought to you by the Learning Resources Department.  

Canvas 101 - 12pm  

This workshop is intended to support students in navigating Canvas and support learning in and outside of the classroom in a virtual setting.  

Single Stop - 2pm  

Join Single Stop to get you connected with valuable resources such as food assistance, healthcare, individual mental health counseling, one-on-one financial coaching, emergency aid up to $500.00, assistance for youth experiencing homelessness, and various other services. All of our services are free to Miami Dade College students and their immediate family members.  

Time Management - 4pm  

Time management is an important skill for college, the workforce and when dealing with multiple commitments. This workshop will require students to: *Work with the class syllabus and a planner to note deadlines and major assignments. *Identify priorities—the most important things to spend time on. *Prepare a realistic weekly schedule that includes class and study time. *Use one to-do list keep track of what to do each week.  

July 12th 

What I Wish I Knew as an MDC Student - 10am  

Two recent graduates will share key tips they learned during their time attending and working at MDC so that you can know everything they wish they knew when they began their educational journey! It will include information for everything from tutoring resources, to on campus resources, to how to view your degree audit, and so much more! 

Get Onboard for Blackboard - 2pm  

This workshop will review multiple features of Blackboard such as how to find and navigate through your course, find and reply to course messages, track your assignment submissions, and so much more! Presented by Learning Resources. 

Use Study Time Well - 4pm  

This interactive workshop will introduce the study cycle to students and guide them in the application of different studying strategies based on learning needs.  

 

July 13th 

Study Tips and Time Management - 10am  

This workshop will share helpful study tips for different course modalities (such as MDC Live, Blended, MDCOnline, etc.), and will offer practical strategies for developing time management skills. Presented by ACCESS-MEED.  

Wikipedia Workshop - 12pm              

This Wikipedia workshop is designed to expose learners to the power of information literacy and equip them with the boldness necessary to be Wikipedia contributors.  

Miami-Dade Public Library System - Paving the Road to Success - 12pm              

Join us for an on-site presentation of Miami Dade Public Library System's myriad of services, spaces, and resources specially gathered to help our patrons succeed on their personal, academic, and professional endeavors. This program is part of Miami-Dade College's Summer Workshop Series. Ages 12+  

July 14th 

Active Learning Strategies - 12pm  

Active learning engages students in the learning process, creating active and strong connections in the brain. In this session participants will learn three Active Learning techniques to use and adapt in tutoring sessions. Participants will learn to incorporate Think-Pair-Share, Exit Ticket, and Jigsaw techniques when learning.  

Learning Resources 101 - 2pm  

Participants will join an interactive tour of the campus library and its many resources. How Well Do You Know Your Library- Virtual Escape Room OR Missing in the Stacks. 

Mastering PowerPoint - 6pm 

This workshop will demonstrate various strategies to enhance and complement live presentations. Participants review tools to create thoughtful and effective presentations and apply new presentation concepts learned. 

July 15th 

Blackboard 101 - 10am 

This workshop will review multiple features of Blackboard such as how to find and navigate through your course, find and reply to course messages, track your assignment submissions, and so much more! Presented by Learning Resources. 

Academic Support in LR - 12pm 

The workshop is designed to promote student academic success in different subject areas, life skills and digital literacy.
