🧠 What Is Information Literacy & What Is a LibGuide?

What is Information Literacy?

Information literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically. It involves skills like recognizing credible sources, using library tools, avoiding plagiarism, and understanding how information is created and shared. These skills are essential for academic research, career development, and lifelong learning.

What is a LibGuide?

A LibGuide is a web-based resource created by librarians to support research, learning, and student success. A LibGuide may include links to books, articles, databases, videos, citation tools, and more. Some LibGuides are created for a specific course or assignment, while others focus on a broad subject area. No advanced tech skills are needed to create or use a LibGuide—just a goal to connect students with the right information at the right time.
