Topic approval, Individual Assignment (Post on the Blackboard Discussion Board):

  • Complete the Focus 2 Skill and Career Assessments. Choose a career for your project. Post your career project topic on the Blackboard discussion board, so it can be looked over by your instructor for approval.

MLA Citations, Per Person (Post on the Blackboard Discussion Board):

  • Required: Include your chosen Career for this presentation.
  • 4 MLA Citations, Per Student, that provides information on your Career of choice: 

    •  One Films on Demand Video, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook website source, O*Net Online website source, and your Focus 2 website source. 

Upload your PowerPoint Poster for your Career Project onto Blackboard, Individual Assignment:

Topic:

Students are required to use the provided PowerPoint (PPT) template to do a PPT poster presentation on a career they are interested in or are pursuing. Students are also required to complete a 2-minute presentation on Blackboard Collaborate of themselves presenting their PPT presentation during class time.

Include within your presentation the following information:

  1. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
  2. What do you want to be doing 10 years from now?
  3. In what areas do you excel?
  4. What did the Focus 2 personality and career tests tell you about yourself and what would be a good career for you?
  5. What are the job duties/type of work involved in that career? (Include information such as the job description, the hours/days required to work, can jobs in this field be found in any city, and work environment - is it indoor or outdoor work)
  6. What are the educational requirements? (Include information such as the required degree, courses, years of study, and list good colleges to attend for this career)
  7. What are the required skills?
  8. What are the job benefits & drawbacks?
  9. What is the outlook for this career according to the U.S. Gov’t Outlook Handbook?
  10. What are the salary ranges? (Include information such as the starting or entry-level annual salary/hourly rate as well as the max amount you could earn, does it increase annually, and if education influences salary)
  11. Find a job opening for this job in Florida.

Include in your PPT Poster Presentation:

A video on your chosen profession.
