Study Room Guidelines & Expectations for Use

1. Reservations & Appointment Rules

  • Appointments Required
    Study rooms are by appointment only and require an MDC ID.
  • 2-2-2 Model
    • Maximum reservation length: 2 hours
    • You can make up to 2 reservations per week
    • You can reserve a room up to 2 weeks in advance
  • No Back-to-Back Reservations
    Students cannot book back-to-back appointments. For special requests, please see the front desk.
  • Late Policy
    If you are 15 minutes late, your reservation may be subject to cancellation based on demand.
  • Closing Time
    Study rooms close 30 minutes before the Learning Resources' closing time.

2. Room Use Guidelines

  • Academic Use Only
    Study rooms are for academic work only. If the noise level becomes disruptive and complaints are received, you may be asked to find an alternate study space.
  • Food and Drinks
    No food is allowed in the study rooms. Only covered drinks (e.g., water bottles, coffee) are permitted.
  • Writing on Surfaces
    Drawing on walls or tables is prohibited. You can use the whiteboards and request erasable markers at the Help Desk.
  • Lighting
    Lights must remain on at all times.

3. Responsibilities & Conduct

  • Room & Equipment Responsibility
    Students who reserve a study room are responsible for any damage to the room, equipment, or furniture.
  • Cleanliness
    Please clean the space before leaving.
  • Personal Items
    Learning Resources is not responsible for unattended, lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
  • Respect for Staff
    Please be courteous and respectful to staff as they enforce the room guidelines.

4. Consequences & Disputes

  • Disputes
    Disputes regarding room use will be referred to Public Safety.
  • Repeated Violations
    Repeated failure to follow these guidelines may result in your ability to reserve study spaces being limited or revoked.
