The ACCESS Sharks Program at Learning Resources is committed to supporting and advancing student equity and diversity at Miami Dade College by providing students with disabilities the opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge in customer service skills.
The ACCESS Sharks Program supports the MDC Strategic Plan Goal # 4: Fueling the Talent Needs of a Global Economy which prepares all students for future work.
The program also supports High Impact Strategy 4.2: Providing all students with access to high-quality experiential-based learning such as internships, apprenticeships, research, and practicums in order to enhance workforce readiness.

Keyandra Summerville has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Supervision and Management from Miami Dade College awarded in 2022. She loves animals and plants. In addition to volunteering at the MDC North Campus Library, she has also volunteered at the Humane Society of Greater Miami and at the Urban Paradise Nursery.
Tomas Vivoni-Bonavita earned a high school diploma from Miami Springs Senior High School in 2022. Tomas started piano classes when he was 5 years old. He has been learning how to play piano by watching YouTube. Also, he has taken online piano classes with a teacher from Argentina since January 2022. He was a volunteer for the ACCESS Sharks program at the North Campus library in the Spring term of 2023.
Jonathan Labastille earned a high school diploma from Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School in 2017. Jonathan will graduate with an Associate in Arts in Biology from Miami Dade College in December 2023.
Walter Guevara has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Film, Television, and Digital Design Technology from Miami Dade College awarded in 2022. In addition to volunteering at the North Campus Library, he has also volunteered at MDCTV. Walter has created three films: Farewell (2018), Star Watcher (2020) and My MDC Day (2023).
My MDC Day film is a Learning Resources initiative in partnership with the School of Entertainment and Design Technology and MDC TV.
