The Kendall Campus Environmental Center is a nine-acre hidden gem on our campus. Although for years it remained closed following Hurricane Irma in 2017, it is now being brought back to life for the learning and enjoyment of the MDC Kendall Campus community! Starting in October 2024, on the first Wednesday of each month, students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to visit and learn about the center, and on the third Wednesday of each month, students will have the opportunity to participate in volunteer service at the center. Stay tuned for details!
Global Sustainability and Earth Literacy Studies (GSELS)-designated classes at MDC -- which are offered across various modalities, campuses, departments, and disciplines -- acknowledge the interconnections and interdependencies that define our world. GSELS facilitates the emergence of awareness, knowledge, skills, and solutions necessary to create sustainable systems while fostering ethical values of Earth Literacy, social justice, cultural diversity, and civic engagement. Students can earn GSELS Scholar recognition at MDC by successfully completing GSELS-designated classes and a GSELS Civic Engagement Project with a reflection essay.
