Miami Dade College’s Learning Resources Department will once again celebrate National Library Week, April 24 - 28 with various events at all eight MDC campuses.
First promoted in 1958, National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and observed in libraries across the country each April. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.
The theme for National Library Week 2023, “There is More to the Story,” promotes the idea that libraries are full of stories in a number of formats. Stories in print or nonprint resources, as well as a place that brings the campus community together as places to learn, study, connect with others, attend lectures and workshops, use technology, and more. Libraries help develop and facilitate life-long learners. Come and share your stories.
During the week-long celebration, MDC libraries will share pictures and stories, through social media, from our students, faculty, and staff describing how libraries and/or their staff have impacted them.
This LibGuide provides a list of MDC’s National Library Week events and resources for students, faculty, and staff. Event descriptions and information on how to join are below. To join virtual events click on the event title to join on the specified date and time. On-campus events have detailed location information listed after the event descriptions.
