During the Spring 2025 semester, my ENC1102 students embarked on a study of the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe. The idea was to reimagine the traditional research paper and extend it to include a creative component. Students were able to showcase their talent and skill as they chose the way they illustrated their interpretation of Poe's works. This was the first iteration of The Raven Hour. The Raven Hour was the culminating event of a semester long unit analyzing iconic poems, such as The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Black Cat, and more. More than 50 students participated in the contest, to the left are their projects.
