Step 1: Confirm Eligibility
Before applying, make sure you meet the three requirements for the Civic Leadership Fellows program:
Step 2: Fill out our Job Interest Form
Step 3: Check your email for a message within 1-4 business days to schedule an interview
Our team may also call you if we haven’t received a response. If you’re still waiting to be contacted, email clf@mdc.edu.
Step 4: Interview with iCED staff
The best way to prepare for the interview is to be relaxed and yourself! This interview is simply to see if this program is a good fit for your interests, background, location, and availability.
Step 5: Match with a CLF host organization and interview with their CLF supervisor
If you are a good fit for one of our available roles, we will match you with one of our host organizations. You’ll then arrange a time to interview with their team. The Fellow host site will then decide whether to move forward with your candidacy or not, so research the organization ahead of time and arrive to your interview on time, and convince them that you are the one to hire!
Step 6: Begin the Federal Work-Study Hiring Process
Once the partner sends us approval for your candidacy, we’ll then ask you to apply for the role on MDC’s Federal Work-Study website (if we haven’t already) and begin the hiring process through financial aid. The process as a whole can take between 2-4 weeks, depending on the Financial Aid office and how quickly you can provide necessary documentation. iCED will help you every step of the way!
Step 7: Start work at your agency
When all is approved, we’ll let you and your placement site know your official start date!
