Writing a Research Paper

The research paper is often the "capstone" of your course, which means that it tests how well you can do all the writing skills you learned throughout the semester. In this skillshop, then, you will review how to read assignment sheets, select a topic just right for research, outline their paper, write effective introductions/thesis statements and conclusions, and learn the difference between quotations, paraphrases, summaries, and citations so that you can accurately include other people's ideas in your papers.  You will also learn when it is best to use each to successfully tackle your biggest writing assignment.
