MDC School of Education - Clinical Teaching Lab

This guide serves as an informational tool for students at MDC School of Education looking for academic support.

Highly Qualified Teacher

Goal #1

WE WILL provide 100% of our Pre-Service Educators the opportunity to meet the qualifications of “Highly Qualified” by Florida Department of Education Standards.

Which is:

  • A teacher with an accredited degree which has been officially conferred
  • A teacher who has taken and “PASSED” all of the required examination requirements as outlined in their respective academic program

Examination requirements are as follows:

  • General Knowledge Test (GKT)
  • The Professional Educator
  • Subject-Area Examinations

Goal #2

YOU WILL complete and PASS all FTCE Examinations on/or before “Practicum”, so that your Internship Experience can be focused on the transition from Pre-Service Educator TO “Teacher of Record”.

The Highly Qualified Teacher “Examination Review Regiment”

  • FTCE Webinar - Overview of examination content, structure, domains, organization and instructional focus.
  • Look-Up Activity - Research and review of critical content and essential terminology.
  • 240 Tutoring Platform or Study.com - Meaningful interactive engagement with critical content and multiple opportunities to make the leap from theory to practice. Must complete with “FIDELITY”.
  • FTCE Website Examination Review: Exposure to actual “test item specifications” and the “sample test” authored by the Florida Department of Education.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Take the test and repeat the cycle if you have more than one exam to take. It is our recommendation that study regiments focus on a “single” test at a time.
