At MDC Hialeah, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. We provide all SCHOLARS (Service-Centered, Holistic Opportunities for Learning, Achievement, Retention and Success) participants with a mentor as a way to ease their transition from high school to college. Participation in SCHOLARS will help build and strengthen those skills we know are essential to becoming a changemaker: empathy, leadership, communication and teamwork. First-time in college students will receive educational advice, career development, financial aid assistance and overall guidance from a second-year MDC Hialeah student. Our program is designed to build relationships and strengthen learning opportunities outside of the classroom, in an effort to maximize the college experience at MDC Hialeah Campus.
