What is Information Literacy?

According to the American Library Association (ALA), information literacy is "a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."

The SIFT (Stop, Investigate, Find better coverage, Trace claims) Method can help you evaluate information that you find on the internet.  Resources you find at the MDC libraries can lead you to credible and scholarly sources.

SIFT means Stop, investigate, find coverage, trace claims.
