Welcome to the Student Success Hub at MDC Homestead
This guide is designed to support students who may be experiencing academic, personal, or financial challenges and to assist faculty in identifying and connecting students with the right resources.
At Miami Dade College, we believe every student deserves the tools and support to succeed. Whether you’re here to get help or to help someone else, you’re in the right place.
Use the tabs below to explore resources, services, and support strategies that align with your needs.
Success is a shared effort. Whether you're a student working toward your academic goals or a faculty member guiding students through their journey, MDC Homestead offers free resources and collaborative strategies to help everyone thrive.
Students can access free tutoring in writing, math, science, and other subjects—both in-person and online. Faculty are encouraged to refer students early and include tutoring info in syllabi and announcements.
Some courses offer embedded tutors who support students throughout the term. If you're a student, check with your professor to see if your class includes this feature. Faculty interested in embedding a tutor can contact the Learning Resources Director to request support and access planning tools.
MDC Skillshops are free workshops designed to help you build both academic and life skills. Offered face-to-face and virtually across all MDC campuses, these sessions cover topics like study strategies, time management, stress relief, and more. Skillshops are a great way to:
Reaching out early makes a difference. Students are encouraged to attend office hours and ask questions. Faculty play a key role in setting the tone—modeling inclusive, proactive communication and normalizing academic support services can improve outcomes for all students.
Early Alerts are a way for faculty to recognize when students may need extra academic support. If you receive an alert, it simply means your professor cares about your success and wants to connect you with helpful resources like tutoring or success coaching. It’s an opportunity to get back on track and thrive.
Wellness matters—for students, faculty, and the entire campus community. Mental health and personal well-being are essential to academic and professional success. MDC Homestead provides free, confidential resources and guidance to support emotional wellness, personal challenges, and crisis situations.

Miami Dade College (MDC) offers free mental health counseling services to students through its Single Stop program. Students can access up to 10 confidential, hour-long sessions with licensed counselors, available both in-person at various campus locations and virtually through the Mantra Health platform. These services aim to support students in managing stress, building resilience, and enhancing emotional well-being.
It’s okay to ask for help. If you're a student experiencing ongoing sadness, trouble concentrating, or feeling overwhelmed—support is available. Faculty who observe significant changes in a student’s behavior, attendance, or engagement should connect with Student Services or Counseling.
If you have questions or need help accessing Single Stop services, reach out to our Outreach Coordinator:

No student should have to choose between meeting basic needs and pursuing their education. Miami Dade College provides financial assistance and connects students to community resources to help overcome barriers like food insecurity, transportation, and emergency expenses. Faculty and staff can play a key role by referring students and raising awareness of these services.
Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of scholarships based on academic program, financial need, community service, and more. Faculty can help by sharing opportunities and encouraging students to apply early.
Miami Dade College offers the MDC-Follett Shark Pack Program, designed to support our textbook affordability efforts and reduce the cost of instructional materials for students. If students face financial hardship and cannot afford digital course materials, they may be eligible for a term-based appeal. Faculty should inform students of this option if cost becomes a barrier to learning.
Students facing unexpected hardship—like job loss, medical expenses, or housing instability—may be eligible for emergency aid through Single Stop or Student Services. Faculty are encouraged to refer students who disclose financial stress early.
