Campus Learning Community

Collaboratively exploring Earth Literacy, the Earth Charter, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other environmental topics

A project of Earth Ethics Institute
35+ years of fostering Earth Literacy at Miami Dade College and beyond

The Campus Learning Community approachwhich stems from past Faculty Learning Community efforts at Padrón Campus and major events at North Campuswelcomes participants from all campuses, disciplines and backgrounds.

Earth Ethics Institute has led this transdisciplinary effort
with the help of Global Sustainability and Earth Literacy Studies (GSELS) faculty, student clubs, Learning Resources and Media Services.

Participating faculty members and students help to identify a topic or theme to explore and integrate into their classes and studies, fostering curriculum development (including Project-Based Learning) and supporting academic achievement.

Campus Learning Community events and activities take place throughout each semester but culminate with a multi-day Symposium that can feature presentations by students, faculty and community partners, film screenings and discussions, and other activities and creative outputs.

Where a connection is possible, other offerings at Miami Dade College are encouraged to consider and integrate the Campus Learning Community theme.
