Developing Professional Skills for Career Pursuits

OverviewThe primary objective of this assignment is to empower students with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively prepare for and pursue various internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. In the process, students will utilize resources presented in the MDCWorks platform and insights gained from the library instruction provided (including the Hialeah Career Cloud resource) or any other credible templates sourced online.

Objective: The aim of this assignment is to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively prepare for and pursue a wide range of internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities.

*You are required to meet with a tutor for assistance with your Final Project.


Resume Guidelines:

  1. Begin your resume with contact information (name, phone number, and email).
  2. Include a concise objective statement that aligns with your desired position.
  3. List your educational qualifications in chronological order.
  4. Document your work experience, emphasizing key skills and achievements, also in chronological order.
  5. Incorporate additional skills, certifications, or achievements relevant to your target position.
  6. Utilize clear and concise language, employing bullet points for readability.

Cover Letter Guidelines:

  1. Address the cover letter to the intended recipient.
  2. Begin with a succinct introduction, introducing yourself and explaining your interest in the position.
  3. Highlight your pertinent skills and qualifications.
  4. Describe why you are suitability for the position.
  5. Conclude by expressing gratitude and your eagerness for an interview opportunity.
  6. Example 1 and Example 2.

Participation:

Mock Interview (2/20 at 1:00 pm): On this day, ensure all your content is ready for submission. Report to room 2202 for a professional interview experience, including both interviewing and being interviewed by fellow students. Professional attire is mandatory (Smart and Casual Business Attire are acceptable).
