Laura Gonzalez Angelica Lugo Angelica McCalla

Laura Gonzalez is a recent Miami Dade Honors College graduate pursuing a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (BS) from Emerson College. When Laura was at Miami Dade College, she was an active member of the psychological community, becoming the President of Psi Beta at MDC in March 2020 and the President of the Psychology Student Association in January 2021. She has participated in two scientific research internships through the MDC School of Science. Through her research, Laura visualized and plotted various social network analysis graphs of the monkey's behavior and conducted statistical analysis on the emotional impacts of COVID-19 in Miami Dade College students. In the future, Laura yearns to continue her passion for behavioral study and aspires to get her Ph.D. in child development to work with children with language development disorders.

Angelica Teresa Lugo is a second-year student at Miami Dade College's Eduardo J. Padrón Campus and pursuing an Associate in Arts degree in Psychology. Participation with an MDC STEM Grant gave her the opportunity to conduct undergraduate research in the field she is interested in and learn more about the human mind. Alongside her mentor, she researched how EAP (English for Academic Purposes) students perceive COVID-19 and digital online learning. In the future, she hopes to further expand her knowledge and understanding of people and share her findings with others.

Angelica McCalla is a second-year student at The Honors College at Miami Dade College North Campus. Currently, she is obtaining her Associate in Arts degree in Biology while completing her prerequisites for medical school. Angelica is specifically interested in neuroscience, which stems from her experience as a volunteer at a nursing home. There, she was able to witness patient treatment and care. As much as she enjoys learning, she also enjoys educating others. Angelica has created an initiative called "Female Friendly," where she educates college students at Miami Dade College about women's reproductive health, providing young adults with proper resources and valuable information about women's health issues. She has always found it gratifying to help others, especially those in need. In her free time, Angelica enjoys shopping for new clothes and watching the latest movies.
