Course Description

PHI 2600: Introduction to Ethics

This course provides students with a college-level understanding of ethics and morality. It engages students in critical evaluation of major theories while providing an opportunity to apply these theories to classical and/or contemporary ethical issues. It develops their critical thinking skills as it applies to ethical reasoning.

Core Competencies

Competency 1: : The student will demonstrate an understanding of fundamental terms and concepts of ethics.

Competency 2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of meta-ethics.

Competency 3: The student will demonstrate an understanding of normative ethics.

Competency 4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the application of critical and ethical reasoning.

Competency 5: The student will demonstrate the ability to write college-level Gordon Rule assignments.
