Land Acknowledgement

At Miami Dade College we acknowledge the indigenous peoples on whose land we stand. The Miccosukee and the Seminole tribes who remain unconquered, and the Tequesta Tribe, who first occupied the land that is now downtown Miami and so represent ties to both our prehistoric and historic past. Miami Dade College is grateful for the unique knowledge and ways of being—as well as the profound connection to our South Florida ecosystems—that these indigenous tribes represent. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with both Miami’s indigenous peoples as well as the natural world.
