Guide to Library Resources: Books & eBooks

This guide includes information about the library, and about searching for books, ebooks, articles and databases, films, and Internet resources. Information about APA and MLA citation styles is also included.

Did you know?

  • eBooks can be viewed from any computer, tablet, or phone with internet access.
  • Interlibrary Loan: If there is a print book you need that is not available, we may be able to get it from another library. Request the book through the library catalog or speak to a librarian for help.
How to Search for Books and eBooks in the Catalog
  1. Go to https://www.mdc.edu/learning-resources/.
  2. Click on Advanced Library Search.
  3. Narrow the Material Type to Books or e-Books.
  4. Limit Within to the particular campus library you would like to search.
  5. Type your keyword(s) in the empty box(es).
  6. Click on Search.
  7. Write down the Call Number (e.g. JK1021.C565 2008) for the book, to find it in the library. Or for an eBook, click View Online and log in with your MDC username and password.
Library of Congress Classification

Books are arranged in the library according to the Library of Congress Classification.
Each book has a call number, which is derived from this classification.
