Summary

The topic of happiness in the United States is complex and multifaceted. There are many factors that can affect the level of happiness such as cultural background, social surroundings, and financial conditions. On the other hand, there is evidence to support the idea that happiness may be influenced by genetics. Research has found some genes such as that the control of dopamine, a neurotransmitter which plays a critical part in reward processing and positive changes influence the levels of happiness. Genetic variables report up to 50% of the variation in people’s happiness. Environmental factors also play a role, such as developing strong relationships, expressing gratitude, and engaging in fun activities.
