The student will recognize his/her role as a changemaker by: 

a. Identifying characteristics that s/he/they exemplifies that align with changemaking. 

b. Exploring his/her/their own social passions, motivations, and aspirations.  

c. Explaining how to integrate changemaking into his or her personal and professional life.

Changemaker Education

At its core, changemaker education sparks a sense of agency in students. It gives students real-life opportunities to understand problems and practice co-creating positive social and environmental change. It develops the mindsets, knowledge, and skills students need to: 

  • Understand themselves;
  • Understand social and environmental problems; and
  • Creatively identify solutions and
  • Collaboratively facilitate thoughtful and effective change for the good of all.

There's No Single Way to be a Changemaker

Being a changemaker depends on what matters to you. Change can be big or small. It can happen in your immediate surroundings or on a much larger scale. All you need to do is find a cause or an issue that inspires you and work to make positive change happen.

The Civic Action Scorecard

Linda Levin has been the Homestead Campus iCED Coordinator since 2015. She has more than 30 years of experience working with non-profit organizations and educational institutions in the areas of leadership training and development, recruitment, and board management. Prior to MDC, Linda served as the Membership and Outreach Coordinator at Temple Israel of Greater Miami, and worked extensively with college students at the University of Miami, both at the Hillel Jewish Student Center and in the Department of Residence Life. Linda is passionate about working with college students to promote service-learning and community outreach, and particularly enjoys assisting students in career exploration. Linda earned a Master Degree in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
