Born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in multicultural Miami, Florida, I have a lot to be thankful to my family for instilling in me compassion for people and awe of the natural world. I have had a lifelong interest in science and am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in biology at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida. My enduring passion for science has led me to participate in incredible opportunities through my university’s School of Science as an undergraduate researcher and most recently as an American Heart Association HSI Scholar. My utmost goal is to have the medical knowledge as a physician to empower my future patients with the knowledge to take care of their health and their families, this way contributing to human dignity, social well-being and health equity.

Reviewing Neuroscience Interest among MDC Students and a Literature Analysis of the Brain During Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) Conducting an Analysis into Psychological Factors of Academic Success in Mathematics: A Comprehensive Analysis

Osorio Orianna Caleb Polynice
Being born in United States but doing all her high school in a private school in Bogotá, Colombia, Orianna Osorio decided to move to Miami to pursue higher education. During her high school she was leader of different events such as the UN model of her school, elected as a Secretary-General, as well as being awarded different diplomas for her high grades. In order to graduate, she did a two-year research project titled “stress on female students and its consequences at a physiological level, including their menstrual cycle” and present it at the end of the year. She was aware that moving on her own to a country with no family would not be easy, but she decided to follow her dreams. Now, she works a full-time job to sustain herself, and she is enrolled as a full time student at Miami Dade College Wolfson campus, doing an A.A on psychology to later transfer to Neuroscience at FIU. All her life she has been intrigued by science, but it was watching and reading about the subject, that took her to say the last word to choose it as a career path. She would like to keep expanding her knowledge about it and get involved with medical/pharmaceutical research when she graduates. On her free time, she likes reading and listening music. Caleb Polynice attends Miami Dade College North Campus as an honors college student. He is a Psychology major with a deep interest in social psychology and clinical psychology. Being part of the Honors College has fostered his involvement within his school and ultimately his appreciation of higher education. Caleb is an active member of several clubs and organizations, including the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), and the YES! for the Environmental Sustainability Club. He has been actively involved in volunteering activities, such as the Book Fair Miami, where he volunteered his time aiding and ushering numerous attendees. He also volunteers at his college campus’s garden, helping in all aspects of garden maintenance. Caleb's commitment to academic excellence, community service, and research makes him a promising young scholar. This dedication to learning and growth has allowed me to excel as a student and will continue to take him to new heights. Caleb aspires to become a licensed psychologist, helping to better the lives of people all around the world.
