County Law Library

Miami Dade County Law Library
Hours and Location
8:15 am to 4:00 pm
Monday through Thursday,
8:15 am to 12:00 pm on Friday,
except for Holidays
The library is located on the third floor (Room 321) of the Miami-Dade County Courthouse, 73 West Flagler Street in downtown Miami
About the library:
When the Miami-Dade County Law Library (MDCLL) system was created under a plan conceived and sponsored by the Miami-Dade County Bar Association in 1937 (Laws of Florida, Chapter 17720), it was dedicated to the "perpetual use" of the Bench and Bar of Miami-Dade County. Although the library's collection has grown from its original 4,000 volumes to almost 70,000 volumes today, and its mandate has expanded to include service to all the citizens of Miami-Dade County, the founding principle of providing "accessibility to the sources of legal knowledge and experience" remains firmly in place.

Please note, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the law library is closed to the public until further notice. However, we are still providing limited services. For additional information, all inquiries must be submitted via email to: refdesk@mdcll.org.

About the library:
The Law Library is a research facility designed to support the work of students and faculty of the University of Miami School of Law. With over 630,000 volumes and volume equivalents (microforms), it is one of the largest legal research libraries in the Southeast. The law librarians and staff are committed to providing a high level of service to the students and faculty of the School of Law, as well as to assisting the University of Miami community, the local bar and the general public. The full-time staff of twenty-five includes ten professional librarians.

The Law Library is open to all faculty, staff and students of St. Thomas University, and to St. Thomas Law alumni, visiting scholars and researchers and current students and faculty of other law schools or paralegal programs.
