Yom HaShoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed as Israel's day of commemoration for the Jews who perished in the Holocaust and for the Jewish resistance in that period, linked to the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943. In Israel is celebrated on the 27th of Nisan (April/May).

The Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust (DRVH) was designated as an annual 8-day period by the U.S. Congress to help citizens remember the Holocaust through commemorations and educational programs. As a permanent living memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, the U.S. Congress created the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and April-2 established the Days of Remembrance as the national annual commemoration of the horrific event.

A House joint resolution designated April 28 and 29 of 1979 as "Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust", because on those dates in 1945, American troops liberated the Dachau concentration camp and a number of its satellite camps.

The United Nations established the International Holocaust Memorial Day for January 27, the day in 1945 when the Soviet Red Army liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

Hate Crime: "is a criminal offense committed against a person or property that is motivated in whole or in part by the offender's bias against a race, religion, ethnic/national origin or sexual orientation group".

Genocide: "systematic killing of a religious, ethnic, or national group. The term was coined in 1943 by Rafael Lemkin in his book "Axix Rule in Europe". He derived it from the Greek word "Genos" (tribe) and the Latin word "cedere" (kill).
