Overview

Welcome, Scholastic Sharks!

This program will engage students in a myriad of individualized learning opportunities in reading, writing, grammar, research, and technology through workshops and one-on-one tutoring. The activities we are inviting you to participate in were designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of important skills needed to succeed in reading- and writing-intensive courses, such as ENC 1101.

Scholastic Sharks are asked to:

  • attend 1 orientation at the Reading & Writing Center
  • attend 1 orientation at Learning Resources
  • attend 6 workshops (one in each category)
  • attend 3 tutoring sessions at either the Reading & Writing Center or Learning Resources

Learn more about each aspect of the program by using the navigation pane or by clicking below.

To make the experience in this program a little more exciting, students will collect stamps on their passports after completing each recommended activity. Once you earn all your stamps, you can collect the grand prize containing an assortment of MDC goodies. Read more about how to map your success below.

If you have any questions, please contact us at one of the phone numbers listed under the Reading & Writing Center or Learning Resources contact information.
