  • Ink in Water: An Illustrated Memoir (Or, How I Kicked Anorexia’s Ass and Embraced Body Positivity) by Lacy J. Davis & Jim Kettner
Lacy Davis's eating disorder begins with the germ of an idea: a seed of a thought that tells her she just isn't good enough. And like ink in water, the idea spreads. Blending bold humor, a healthy dose of self-deprecation, literary storytelling, and provocative artwork, Ink In Water is an unflinching, brutally honest look into Lacy"s mind as she learns to move past her self-destructive behaviors and toward a life of health, strength, and nourishment.

  • Lighter Than My Shadow by Katie Green
A graphic memoir of eating disorders, abuse and recovery. Lighter Than My Shadow is a hand-drawn story of struggle and recovery, a trip into the black heart of a taboo illness; an exposure of those who are so weak as to prey on the weak, and an inspiration to anybody who believes in the human power to endure towards happiness.

  • Tyranny by Lesley Fairfield
Brisk, spare text and illustrations that deal head-on with anorexia propel the reader along on Anna’s journey as she falls prey to the eating disorder, personified as her tormentor, Tyranny.

One of the most influential graphic novels of all time and a perennial bestseller, this Hugo Award-winning story chronicles the fall from grace of a group of superheroes plagued by all-too-human failings. Along the way, the concept of the superhero is dissected as an unknown assassin stalks the erstwhile heroes.

Comic Books – Innovative! Exciting! Daring! And… dangerous? Throughout their 80+ year history, comic books have faced prohibition, prosecution, organized burnings, and governmental persecution. The MDC Graphic Novel Group invites you to join in a lively discussion of the historical, and on-going, battles faced by graphic novels and comics - from "Seduction of the Innocent" and senate committee hearings in the 1950’s, to the modern-day attacks on "Maus" and more!
