Abstract
The Cuban Revolution was a historical turning point for the entire island. When its history is told, however, it ignores the plight of the LGBTQIA+ community. Despite the numerous hardships they have encountered, this population has played and continues to play a significant role in Cuban politics and society, even while being marginalized at best and persecuted at worst. In recent years, the LGBTQIA+ community has made significant gains in the struggle for their rights, while continuing to fight for full inclusion in society. This study will provide a timeline of the Cuban Revolution from 1959 to the present, with a focus on its impact on the LGBTQIA+ community.
