Abstract
This research is aimed at investigating maternal bullying and exploring the mental health consequences for daughters. The purpose of my research is to shed light on this certain type of mother-daughter relationship that tends to be overlooked, or, in some cases, not even acknowledged at all to the point where people don't know this is something that many women experience. For this project, I studied this topic through peer-reviewed articles and I also did a literature review, using examples from movies and books that showcase mother-daughter conflict and how the daughter internalizes it and deals with it on an everyday basis. Based on my findings, I've found that mother-daughter conflict has many layers, and it has many negative effects on the daughter and even the mother that aren't just depression or anxiety. The mother and daughter don't benefit from this type of relationship. Understanding mother-daughter dynamics and conflict has profound implications in the world of psychology in terms of mapping out patterns and emergent themes to establish therapeutic guidelines that can benefit both mother and daughter.
