The Progressive Legacy: Changes and Continuity of Progressivism from the 1900s to Today by Aquiles Barreto

Abstract

It is not an exaggeration to say that Progressives are starting to take the country by storm. But why the sudden change? Is this new progressive wave just a phase or is there a real shift in American politics? Well, to properly answer this question we need to think historically of the present. The modern progressive movement is not the first group to label itself Progressive, in fact, progressivism has a long and complicated history in America. But one thing that is certain is that the modern Progressive movement is built on the roots of the previous ones and by analyzing its past we can assess its future.
