Abstract
This project explores the social problems of child abuse and exploitation through the use of primary and secondary sources as well as expert interviews and pieces from pop culture. It traces the history of child protection from the first reported case in 1864 through the current issue of human trafficking. While legislation has evolved over time to address the matters of child labor, abuse and exploitation, the problem still persists in present day, due in no small part to the presence of technology which provides access to children. While legislation has established a foundation for the fight against child abuse and exploitation, it is awareness and cooperation on the part of the general public that will help to bring an end to this injustice.
