AI Ethics Toolbox

AI ethics resources for faculty use. Including valuable AI tools specifically relevant for teaching AI ethics.

In this video, Sal Khan, founder and CEO of Khan Academy, discusses the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in education. He believes AI could bring about the greatest positive change the education system has ever seen. Sal Khan highlights opportunities for students and educators to collaborate with AI, including the possibility of every student having a personal AI tutor and every teacher having an AI teaching assistant.

This video explores the increasing use of artificial intelligence in Chinese classrooms, where AI cameras and brain-wave trackers are being implemented to monitor students. While many parents and teachers view these technologies as effective tools for boosting academic performance, some children find them intrusive and stressful. The video delves into the ethical concerns and potential negative impacts of such surveillance on students' privacy and mental well-being, highlighting the broader debate over the use of AI in education.

"A.I. has raised a lot of questions for schools. Teachers have had to adapt to the most ingenious cheating technology ever devised. But [a] deeper question is: What should schools be teaching at all? A.I. is going to make the future look very different. How do you prepare kids for a world you can’t predict? And if we can offload more and more tasks to generative A.I., what’s left for the human mind to do?" Here Ezra Klein interviews Rebecca Winthrop, director of the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution and author, with Jenny Anderson, of “The Disengaged Teen: Helping Kids Learn Better, Feel Better, and Live Better.”
