Reviews, Awards, and Recommendation Lists

Ensuring the quality of the items is the second step before choosing what to order. Below are instructions on how you
can search for items with reviews and awards, read the reviews, and browse through recommendation lists.

I. Searching for Items with Reviews, Awards, and Lists

  1. Log in to GOBI.
  2. Perform a Quick, Standard, or Advanced Search.
  3. From the limiter options on the left, expand the Awards, Reviews, and Lists categories.
  4. Select the Awards, Reviews, or Lists you wish to limit your search by.
  5. The results will be updated and displayed on the page.

II. Accessing Reviews

  1. After Searching for an Item with Reviews, you will see a list of reviews in the last box of the item in the search results, under library activity. An example of this can be seen below:
     
  2. Upon clicking on the desired review, you will get a popup with that contains the full review for your perusal. An example of this can be seen below:

     
  3. Click Close when you are finished reading the review to exit.

III. Recommendation Lists

Selectors can take advantage of recommendation lists to enhance their collection with award winning items, and "core" titles in a plethora of categories. GOBI employs the use of what they call "Spotlight Lists", which are created by several collection management specialists at various institutions and organizations, including EBSCO. Follow the steps below to access these lists:

  1. Log in to GOBI.
  2. Click on Spotlight Lists from the top menu.
  3. You will get a menu with the following options:
  4. Choose the appropriate option that best suits your needs.
  5. Selecting a list yields a result page ready for selection, similar to the one that is found in the searching guide and can be further narrowed down using the limiter and filter options available.
