What is GOBI?
In 1996, YBP Library Services released the first version of GOBI (Global Online Bibliographic Information) to allow librarians, selectors, faculty, and others to connect to the YBP and Lindsay and Howes database of over 2 million titles. For years, GOBI has been used by libraries for online title searching, slip retrieval, selecting, ordering, exporting, and reporting.
Through a collaborative effort between YBP’s in-house development team and a number of librarians in the field, GOBI was released in January of 2003. Building on already existing features, the second edition offers a new interface, help tools, and user customization options. Among other things, users can create and save their own title searches; customize search results; apply local details or notes to titles; quickly view their own library’s title activity; view title activity of consortium member libraries; view table of contents, title summaries, book jackets, and book reviews.
