Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U): Application Information

This guide provides resources for the Clinton Global Initiative at MDC. Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, CGI is an initiative of the Clinton Foundation that convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions.

Application Information

  • There is no cost to apply*.
  • You must make a Commitment to Action pledge, which entails a detailed plan for addressing a campus, community, national, or global issue.
  • The CGI U 2023 application is anticipated to launch in late August. The two deadlines (early decision and regular decision) to apply are slated for November and mid-January, respectively.
  • Admissions decisions are expected to release in late February or early March.

*The only “costs” associated with CGI U are airfare to and from the annual meeting and two nights of lodging. MDC students in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) and enrolled in at least 6 credits can apply for funding to cover the cost of their trip.

Fall
  • Late August: CGI U 2023 application expected to launch.
  • November: Early decision deadline.
Spring
  • Late February/early March: Admission decisions released.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be 18+ and enrolled in an institution of higher education when they apply.
  • International students are eligible.
  • Former CGI U participants are not eligible.
  • Applicants may only submit one application each year.
