Humanities Edge Undergraduate Research Symposium - Information

Symposium Structure

The virtual symposium will include synchronous (live) and asynchronous (uploaded or pre-recorded) presentations.

  • For both, synchronous and asynchronous presentations, a commenting feature is available on each project page.
  • For synchronous presentations (i.e., live sessions), attendees can also comment and ask questions via the webinar chat feature.

Synchronous Portion: Live Presentations

The live presentations will take place on Friday, December 11 at 1:00 pm.

  • Students will present on panels (2-3 speakers per panel) for 7 minutes each.
  • Attendees will comment using the chat feature.
  • Facilitated Q&A will take place after all the speakers on the panel have presented.

Asynchronous Portion:

Pre-Recorded Sessions and Uploaded Student Submissions

The asynchronous sessions will highlight all the students and their research projects.

  • Attendees will see the student artifact/project (e.g., an academic paper).
  • Attendees can leave comments for students to review and respond.
  • Students can record and submit a video presenting the work (7 minutes maximum if they choose not to do the live panel session).

All students must submit the following to their faculty mentor:

  • A headshot and bio (100 words max) written in the third person
