The Impact of Social Media by Edgar Teran

Abstract

Social media has changed our lives since it started; now, it is even a way that some people use to disconnect from reality. Social media destroyed all the barriers that we had in our long-distance communications; even though that person lives on the other side of the world, you can have a strong connection with their lives. In this project, my main goal is to show the use and importance of social media, depending on age, country, and culture. However, I wanted to find some bad points that have social media on us too.  With this research project, I learned a lot. I learned that the use of social media is completely different depending on the person, country, culture, and age. Also, in some points, social media is the evolution of traditional communications media. To sum up, this project gave me a deeper perspective of how social media changed and continues changing our lives with the capacity to help: minority groups to fight for their rights, to have and maintain strong connections with persons that are not near you, find new talents, and more.
