Preventing Harassment on Campus

In this self-paced online workshop, participants learn how to define workplace harassment, identify examples of verbal, visual, and physical conduct that can contribute to a hostile work environment and explain where to access Miami Dade College's policy regarding a hostile free working and learning environment. You can begin this workshop at any time the day after you register, but all work must be completed by the end date of the workshop. This workshop should take approximately 1.5 hours; however, you do not have to complete it all at one time. Since this online workshop has sound, your computer should have speakers or a headset.
FERPA Training for Employees

This workshop is designed to present the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) as it pertains to Miami Dade College. Participant will learn about FERPA regulations, MDC policies and procedures,and resources available concerning student rights and privacy. This is a fully online, self-paced workshop. You can register anytime up through the last week of the workshop. Workshop length: Approximately 45 minutes.
Blackboard Learn Essentials
BBL3001
The online Blackboard Essentials will cover the basics of using Blackboard as an instructor and is a pre-requisite for other workshops such as Blended Strategies and Virtual College Certification. It will be open entry/open exit and will be available for the full semester. Although the workshop is self-paced, there will be a Question and Answer Discussion board that will be monitored for anyone needing assistance.
All new tutors, lab instructors, instructional assistants and other personnel that deliver supplemental support to students will go through our Tutor Training Intensive Program (TutorTIPs). The first phase involves a 10 hour training combining face-to-face sessions, online tutorials covering a variety of topics recommended by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) and the National Tutoring Association (NTA) and shadowing. Tutors must complete this phase within the first two weeks being hired to insure that all tutors will have the same foundational skills, be versed in a variety of tutoring modalities, and meet the standards of the accrediting bodies. Additional on-going trainings will be developed and facilitated by tutoring leads at each campus.
