Abstract
This research paper serves to shed light on the once hidden practices of gerrymandering and how the use of artificial intelligence could affect the fairness of redistricting. This paper explores some of the open-source programs that are used to generate simulations of redistricting, more specifically AutoRedistrict. We will explore some aspects of the code that drive the mechanism behind plotting districts as well as whether using machines to automate redistricting ultimately serves for the benefit or hindrance of the populace.
