Abstract

Coloring brings back nostalgia to the simpler days, where you would sit down with your favorite snacks, crayons in hand, with a blank world in front of you. The feeling fades as we grow up and coloring is deemed a toddler’s activity to keep them distracted, being replaced with other activities that are seen as more “mature”. Recently, coloring books have been marketed towards the relaxation and nostalgia of sitting down and coloring without the worry of having to be perfect. The coloring book I am creating, The Blooming of You, aims to explore this connection between coloring, stress, relaxation, and mental health.
