Abstract
Traditional Marxist Scholars such as Fredric Jameson assert the solidification and substantialization of late capitalism while asserting the necessity of a revolutionary force have yet been unable to assert or identify the site for emancipatory struggle. In relationship to that debate, I argue that through the introduction of a new literary, philosophical, and political framework, The Smithereen, we may be able to dialecticize our approach towards a conception of emancipatory struggle under late capitalism. Based on my reading of American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis, alongside the introduction of traditional Marxist critique of political economy, Lacanian Psychoanalysis, and the Hegelian dialectic and the Universal, we may be able to identify the cracks and gaps within ideological apparatuses, and locate the sites of radical emancipatory struggle.
