Apocalypse Zero by Joshua Martinez

Abstract

This research is aimed to decipher the complexities with nuclear war, and its impacts on literature throughout the last fifty years. I chose certain pieces of literature with the purpose of understanding the elements of nuclear war in these novels. I also chose three research reports that underline the following areas: the dangers of nuclear war, the ways a nuclear war may start, and an overview of dystopias in literature since World War I. With these findings in mind, I can conclude that the impact of the Cold War era had on people and the emergence of “nuclear fear” created a new genre of fiction that depicts the aftermath of such nuclear war.
