Abstract
In my paper I explore different aspects of child abuse: physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and neglect through the stories of survivors resulting in an explorative essay and artistic rendering. I emphasize the role of socio-economic disparity as a key driver of child abuse and that reducing inequality is a key solution. However, I also approach this research by showing that the psychological impact of child abuse is something that can be transformed into a vehicle for self-empowerment. With the right support, child abuse survivors can be empowered to use their past to build their future and break their generational trauma.
