Statement

In my artwork, there is a woman sewing the mouth of a man, restricting him from sharing his opinion.

Even if he has a microphone right in front of him, he cannot speak his mind since he is being silenced by her. This is a way to show how, even if we have freedom of expression as one of our human rights, most of the time, we cannot share our thoughts without being afraid of getting attacked by the people who may disagree with us.

The message I would like to share with this piece is that we should all agree to the fact that we, indeed, CAN disagree, and there is nothing wrong about it. We all should be able to speak our minds without it turning into a fight. We don’t have to attack others just because they don’t think exactly like us. I want the viewers to see how unfair and diminishing is to have the right to express yourself but being unable to do it. So that, they won't be the ones to sew someone else's mouth.
