Abstract

Research in Relation: Collaboration and Grounded Experience as Tools in Research

In this talk, I will discuss my research assistant-ship in Dr. Nesvet's anthropology lab, focusing on how collaboration, relation-making, and humanistic aspects of social and cultural worlds are key to the research process. In particular, I will discuss my social and family backgrounds and connections to Honduras and how I am utilizing past experience and connections to co-lead the implementation of a larger study component in Honduras. I will also discuss how doing so deepens and strengthens my own connections to others and to healthcare institutions. I aim to inform students about how who we are can inform our research and enable us to contribute to making change through knowledge.
