Alexzander Cano is a first-year student at Miami Dade Honors, Kendall Campus, pursuing a business administration degree with plans to transition into finance. Cano has received the Honors Fellow Scholarship Award from Miami Dade College. With a Hispanic background, Cano is eager to be an influence through his decision in cultural, financial, and organizational environments. His commitment to leadership is reflected through his active involvement on the boards of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), where he strives to inspire and collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals. Cano recently finished second at the state level of FBLA competition, which is a testament to his outstanding business skills and competitive nature. He is now preparing to represent his school on the national level, competing in the FBLA Nationals in Dallas, Texas. His idea of leadership is based on building relationships and helping others grow as individuals and as a team. By endless challenge and constantly striving for best, Cano aims to be a perfect professional capable of inspiring positive transformation in his local community and peers. His dedication and diversified background ensure that he will continue to be a force to be counted upon, fostering success on and off campus as well as enhancing his educational and personal growth.
Christian Martinez is a first-year student at Miami Dade Honors College. He was born and raised in South Florida. As the offspring of Mexican immigrants, he is a bilingual student living in two different cultures. Understanding the importance of community, he joined the Boy Scouts of America and worked towards achieving the prestigious Eagle Scout Rank. During his time there, he was elected to be the Senior Patrol leader of the troop. Martinez was responsible for the troop’s overall operation consisting of weekly meetings, activities, service projects, and annual program planning conferences. As part of his final Scout project, he led a service project for a sanctuary in which he donated picnic tables and refurbished their parking lot. Apart from being devoted to improving his community, Martinez developed a passion for technology. In high school, he took advanced engineering classes in which he designed a prototype for security gates in Miami neighborhoods. He used 3D rendering and coding software to create new products that benefit society. In his free time, Martinez immersed himself in the world of computers. He acquired a deep understanding of hardware components and system architecture. Martinez learned to take apart and assemble computers using new and recycled hardware. Furthermore, Martinez placed great importance on his academic endeavors. He received the National Hispanic Recognition Award, as well as the Florida Academic Scholars Award which paid for his college tuition. He also received the Miami Dade Honors College Fellow Scholarship which provided a stipend every semester. Martinez aspires to transfer to Carnegie Mellon University where he will pursue a master’s in computer information systems. He hopes to use his leadership skills combined with his technological prowess to help others live a life of higher quality.
Leah Masvidal is a first-year student at Miami Dade College, pursuing a major in business administration. She is the recipient of the Honors Fellow Scholarship Award. She hopes to move on to getting a degree in fashion design and using both degrees to create her fashion line. Leah is involved with the Diverse Student Organization, Future Business Leaders Of America, and PTK Honor Society. She was also involved in her high school's Key Club, which expanded her community service outreach and led her to found the Builders Club program. A program that inspires young teens to get involved and give back in their community, which she still leads today. Upon completing her AA, she plans to transfer to Parsons, Florida State, or a top fashion university in Milan to pursue a double major in fashion design and business administration.
Melissa Morales is a dedicated first-year student at Miami Dade College—Kendall Campus. She is also the recipient of the Honors Fellow Scholarship Award. She is pursuing a major in Biology and is passionate about academic excellence and leadership. As the Historian for the Diverse Student Organization, she plays a key role in preserving and documenting the club’s initiatives while promoting inclusivity and awareness on campus. Beyond her leadership role, Melissa is an active member of multiple honor societies, demonstrating her commitment to service and personal growth. With a strong academic foundation and a drive for success, she is eager to explore opportunities in the biological sciences and make a meaningful impact in her field.
